Christmas Cheer

I have uploaded my Christmas Kit to my online store at www.ndisb.com  Click on me, Andy Designz.  Turned out yummy with 16 papers, 10 elements and a full alpha and numbers in individual pngs.

I just love the sugar plum colors in this kit.  It was fun to do and I think you will like it too.

Going to meet Kris and Jake at the China Star Buffet soon for dinner and then to their house to decorate their tree and do our annual ornament exchange.  This will be a lot of fun.  On our way home Kurt and Iwill drive around and look at the Christmas lights up in the city.  Little America Hotel always has a great display and the city decorates Wheeler Park which has many, big trees.  They are both wonderful displays to see.

I am finishing up my decorating inside, including the tree.  Kurt will get to the outside lights this weekend.

I have been doing a lot of substituting at Sinagua Middle School in my friend Carol’s classroom for one of her aides who had surgery.  I love Carol’s kid.  This class was the feeder class to my class at Coconino High School.  These are wonderful young people who have cognitive delay.  We used to call it mildly mentally retarded (MIMR).  The all try so hard to do well and are a joy to work with.

I am smarter than the phone!

I got a new phone!   I Spent two frustrating hours with my son Wednesday night trying to learn the basics of my new Droid X.  My son kept telling me, “Don’t over-think this phone.  Be smarter than the phone.”  When I got home from my son’s house I kept fiddling with it all the while repeating my mantra,  “BE SMARTER THAN THE PHONE.  BE SMARTER THAN THE PHONE”.  Lo and behold I got to where I could do some things with it.  I also kept telling myself that they wouldn’t make a phone that people couldn’t figure out.  But, then I would despair and remember that there are people and then there is me!  I have finally begun to feel comfortable with it.  I wanted to put in some numbers on speed dial and couldn’t get any good info on how to do that.  So I asked my face book  friends and my wonderfully smart, retired math teacher friend, Carol Hobby told me exactly how to do it.  My friend Pam Meeks used Carol’s instructions and it worked perfectly for her.  I still couldn’t get it to work.  I put it down over night and came back to it this morning, still no luck.  Then Carol told me one simple thing, “Don’t type in the number,  scroll to it.”  Voila!  That was the ticket.  LOL Carol probably thought, “How would a special ed teacher go about doing this?”  and then she sent me the one simple thing to do.  Thanks so much.  Now I have all my numbers in my speed dial.  I figured out how to set different ring tones for different people and how to set up my ICE numbers.  Watch out world I am about to buy some apps!

New Baby Brother

My two youngest grandsons have a new baby brother.  He was born on Oct. 18 and weighed 8 pounds 9 ounces  and was 21 inches long.  His name is Carter James.  His mother is my former daughter-in-law.  The boys are just so excited to have him finally here, especially Chase.  Chase is 4 3/4 years old and babies hold a real mystery for him.  His  mom showed the boys some films abut how new born babies look and one of his first comments to me was, “Grandma, Carter was not dirty.  He was all clean the film said that he would be dirty but he came out clean.  Of course, Carter was 20 hours old by the time Chase saw him so he was indeed clean.  Kurt and I went to the hospital to see him too.  We have volunteered to be his Flagstaff Grandparents as his live far away and  we will for sure be including him when we do things with the boys.  We went over to the house on the day he came home as we picked up Chase from preschool.  It was so much fun to see him interact with Carter.  Brother Conner was pretty aloof about the whole thing.  He is 7 and feels so grown up now.  Here is a scrapbook page that I made of Chase and Carter.

Jessica Sprague CT Call

My favorite scrapbook teacher Jessica Sprague is having another call for her Creative Team.  Creative team members  use the designers’ products and showcase them in layouts  to give customers ideas of how these supplies can be used.  I entered the call last spring and didn’t get picked.  <sob> <sob> so am trying again.  You know that old saw,  ” if at first you don’t succeed…….”  Here are the pages that I entered into the call:

Wish me well this go around as this is something I really want to do and I think I would be good at it too.

Make a nice day!  ~Ann
